Kajakpaddlare i Stockholms skärgård

Nysnö i Möjaarkipelagen

Snowfall in Möja archipelago

Beautiful April weather on a kayak trip to Kulansuddar in Stockholm archipelago

Early spring sea kayak get away to Archipelago Foundation’s open hut at Kulans Uddar in the Möja archipelago nature reserve. The hut cannot be booked. It’s a case of first come, first served. This time of the year, there’s usually no crowd.

Woke up to a snowfall that had covered the islets in white. A beautiful day on the water took us back towards Östra Lagnö as the snow cover melted away. By dusk the temperature fell and the morning after we shook frost off the tent and launched through a crackling ice crust. April archipelago delivers.

That was a surprise, i guess, but a beautiful one. I’m glad you got there first. 🙂 It looks cozy in the cabin, but cold on the water. Thanks for including the map – it helps me understand where you were.

Yes, it is a really cozy cabin. I’ve never come across any other visitors there off season. In winter it sometimes feels almost like you have the whole archipelago for yourself. I understand the weather and temperature is not to everyones delight, but if you give it a chance it’s even more enjoyable than summer. I’m happy you liked the post.

I don’t like to be cold but I totally understand what you’re saying about off season – it’s so much better, just about anywhere. 🙂
